OFSAA Week in Full Swing

It’s going to be a big week for high school sports as Waterloo Region schools head off to Windsor, North Bay and Stratford to compete for provincial titles at OFSAA.

WCSSAA and CWOSSA champions the Grand River boys’ hockey team will advance to OFSAA this week. The Renegades have remained undefeated all season, including throughout WCSSAA and CWOSSA finals. Grand River will play their first game on Monday morning versus Michael Power/St. Joseph high school in Windsor.

KCI swimmer Nick Pflug and BCI’s swim team will be heading to Windsor early in the week to compete for OFSAA swimming on March 8th and 9th. Last year, Bluevale’s 200m free relay team won silver at OFSAA, and Nick has placed 8th and 4th in 200m freestyle and 50m freestyle at OFSAA in the past.

OFSAA girls’ volleyball will take place from March 7th-9th in North Bay. The Gaels have played well all season, finishing second in WCSSAA with 13 wins and 2 losses, and winning gold at CWOSSA. Cameron Heights will kick off the tournament by playing St. Thomas Aquinas and Chippewa Monday afternoon.

Boys’ Basketball will run Monday through Wednesday in Windsor with the Sir John A. Macdonald Highlanders representing Central Western Ontario. In the CWOSSA finals this year, SJAM took home yet another first place title, defeating WCI 75-58 in the final. The Highlanders remain undefeated after an incredible season, finishing first in WCSSAA with 28 points. They will play Sir Allan McNab on Monday afternoon for the first round.

Live streams of basketball and volleyball are available through the OFSAA website. Updates on all events can be found throughout the week @OFSAA and @BrysonRecord on twitter. Final results will be posted on the OFSAA website, following events. Best of luck to all competitors!
